Jon Chong

Having written songs for over a decade to capture and express his thoughts and experiences, Jon Chong views music as a natural extension of who he is. In his songs, Jon delves honestly into the themes of life and love and why, and stirs us to consider our unique place in the world. Over the years, he has experienced the vibrancy, hustle and bustle of cities he has travelled to and lived in such as New York, Boston, Tokyo, Moscow and Singapore. His diverse travels have provided a rich palette of life experiences, which have undoubtedly coloured his songs. Jon strongly believes in the power of music to influence lives and aspires to bring back prominence to lyrics and their message. Ultimately, he hopes to inspire people, as a fellow traveller, to pursue their passions and dreams by carving out their own opportunities and breaking stereotypes if necessary, and have as much fun as possible along the journey!

In 2009, Jon released his debut album “State of My Mind” which has been described as delightfully original and fresh, an eclectic mix of genres—pop, rock, blues, jazz, funk, and soul. Since then, he has appeared, among others, on Singapore’s premier performing stages such as the Esplanade and TAB Orchard, as Starbucks’ Featured Artiste, on RazorTV and radio stations 938Live and RedFM Kuching, on inflight entertainment on Singapore Airlines, Bangkok Airways and Air China, and at concerts for charity as a singspirator for social enterprise Cafe Diplo, such as Earth Hour and Haiti Haiti. The song “State of My Mind” has also been selected to be a part of a compilation series by ValleyArm, to be showcased at the 2011 Tokyo International Music Market Conference.

In November 2011, Jon Chong released his highly anticipated sophomore album, “Beauty in the Small Things” which bears the hallmarks of Jon’s unique style, but with distinctly fresh ideas both musically and lyrically. In this album he collaborates with hip-hop artiste Neli Atiga and electric guitarist Edward Aguiliar on two tracks amongst a collection of soul-tugging tunes that promises to excite and leave an indelible impression on the listener.
