Had an awesome time with producer Josh Wan today running through the demos and discussing ideas on how to approach Album #2, our hope is to be able to balance musicality and the relaying of emotion, and bring out the best of both! ..so looking forward to seeing how this labour of love turns out- ooooo soo many sounds in my head right now

Am really thrilled to be part of Earth Hour 2011, organised by the World Wide Fund (WWF) for Nature, Singapore! Come join the band and I (and the rest of the world!) as we share music for this good cause – and yes, you guessed it – we’ll be definitely singing Green lady! Catch other live acts and loads of activities as well!
While back in Kuching, I took time off for promo and album artwork photoshoots with best buddies Kest Tay, Jason & Sam, Anson, and Gordon… all excellent photographers and artistic folks. Can’t remember the last time I had so much fun exploring town and zipping around in a cruiser with guitars, change of clothes and childlike enthusiasm, doing both professional work and clowning around … Great times! Stay tuned! …

She looks so much like mum! Like they all say, until you experience it, you will never know how amazing (and daunting!) it feels to be a dad to a sweet, innocent, beautiful baby…
What a great way to start 2011!

Happy New Year!! Hope 2011 will be your best year yet!
Am pretty excited for what’s in store for 2011; for one, I hope to be hitting the studios in the near future, and the year’s going to start off with a series of mini-concerts at the Esplanade Recital Studio. There is a plan for a large scale event later in the year to coincide with the 2nd album launch, and to give back to charities which I have a heart for…
Meanwhile, just a lil nostalgic video I did, some of you may be able to relate to this

“15 years ago when I was in high school, a bunch of us only had Phil’s broken-down classical guitar to pass around…and photocopying chord books was expensive! this was how we sometimes taught each other chords in-between classes and during recess… had to imagine and sing out the sounds though! …ahh the nostalgia…”
Merry Christmas folks! May you find the familiar tunes of Christmas more meaningful and precious this season…
Get ready for an awesome new year! God bless ya heaps…
With much love,
Jon
Do you remember that ‘Wow’ song recorded and performed by Earth, Wind and Fire, “After the love has gone”? It was written before I was born but millions of plays later it still grips my heart and makes me weep …I believe so because it was written out of sincere experience and inspired musicality by David Foster, Jay Graydon and Bill Champlin (Chicago) – and performed amazingly by an EWF inspired by the emotions evoked by the song.
I remember when I wrote the lyrics to one of my yet-to-be-recorded songs “Fool for you”, I wanted to capture the vulnerability that comes with loving someone, and the tug-of-war between the heart and the mind….I know the inspiration was genuine, sincere, and that motivates me to put in my best effort musically….it just makes the effort all worthwhile…
[excerpt from Fool for you]
“Remember all the secrets we shared,
You caught me with a gaze, no words exchanged,
Love is measured by the things we do,
You know by now, that I’d be a fool for you”
When you are inspired, do something to capture it folks!
